Seek First The Kingdom {First}

Go, go, go! Do, do, do! Work, work, work! Day in, day out…this is what the world shouts at us. It tells us that we to have to go so hard with no times of rest in order to see goals accomplished. We want to be seen, heard and known. We want fame and glory. We want to be seen as important. We focus on our agendas and do whatever it takes to get ahead.

The still small voice of The Lord speaks something entirely different!

 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

Success isn’t a bad thing. But we need to honest about what that looks like in the eyes of God and how that is lived out in our lives. Wanting to be seen and known isn’t bad either, but again, we need to be honest about our motives. God’s mindset is SO counter cultural. His thoughts are the exact opposite of how the world thinks. He is completely other!

Jesus says things like…

“The first shall be last and the last shall be first.”

“If you want to be great, you must be a servant.”

“If you want to find your life, you must lose it.”

The Lord takes this same approach when it comes to advancing and success. He wants us to do well. He wants us to fulfill His calling in our lives. But He calls us to lay our desires and aspirations at His feet. It is when we submit to His desires and plans that He can mold ours to look like His. That is the most beautiful place to be. We don’t need to strive for approval or fame or acceptance from any person or circumstance other than God Himself.

Seek Him first.

Seek His Kingdom.

He Will Do The Adding.

Every good and perfect gift from the Father will only ever attach itself to a heart that is consumed with His heart. Know that His good and perfect gifts are abundant and better than we could ever imagine. Trust that He will reward your earnest seeking of Him and not the gifts. He is loving, gracious and such a good Father.

Do you often find yourself seeking the blessings of God instead of God Himself?
