The Second Coming {Second}

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” John14:1-4

I know that thinking about the end times can be scary. Not knowing when or how can conjure all sorts of thoughts and emotions. I’m one of those people who isn’t worried about how that whole scene will play out. I don’t get caught up in arguing over details. It will happen one way or another. His Word guarantees it. As I have walked with the Lord over the past 15 years, He has given me such peace about what comes after He returns.

There is a place for us in Heaven.

After we have accepted the gift of salvation, we have been grafted into the family of God. We are now His children. Heaven is now our home. Everything about earth is temporary. It’s meant to be that way.

Jesus has prepared that place for us.

In theses verses, Jesus tells the disciples that He must leave them in order to prepare a place for us. He made them a promise. His promise still holds true for us today.

He will be with us in that place.

Jesus was with God before the creation of time and has returned to sit at His right hand. Heaven is Jesus’ home as well. We are co-heirs with Him. He died a gruesome death on a cross in order to restore us into relationship with the Father. Where else would Christ be for all of eternity? He loves us deeply and longs to dwell with us forever.

Do you fear the second coming of Christ? Why or why not?

    When I was in college, the Left Behind books were big and I read several of them. Then? I was afraid of the end times! Now that lots of years have passed, I’m not really concerned about end times – but am immeasurably thankful and comforted to know that no matter how it all plays out, He has a place for me. (But don’t ask me to watch that new Left Behind movie, because I won’t do it!)

      I never read the Left Behind books but I saw the movies. I came to faith in college and I pretty much was a part of different Bible studies that were about the end times. I have never been afraid though. But verses like the one I wrote about bring me immense peace. I, for one, can’t wait for Heaven.

      Thank you so much Mary for reading and sharing! I love you sister!!!

    No, but I honestly don’t think enough about it; I’m sure I’d order my life differently in light of him showing up this afternoon :). I fear ME much more than I fear Jesus…I think I’ll just feel relief and fall into him :).

      I think everyone would order their lives differently if we knew he was going to show up today. I try my best to live in light of eternity and His return. The thought of Him coming back brings me all kinds of peace and joy! I am crazy expectant about seeing Him and being with Him for all eternity!!!!

      Thank you Robin for sharing! I LOVE you lots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
