Finish…Begin [A Five Minute Friday Combo]

Beginnings and Endings…

Life is full of them!

You cannot escape them; no matter how hard you try!

Many of us do not like change. We fear starting something new. We fear ending something that feels familiar and comfortable.

Why not embrace the change?
Why not find God in the midst of it?
Why not find our purpose in it?

The key is to not only embrace beginnings and endings, but to embrace them well. How we finish one season is how we begin the next.

As important as it is to start something well, it is just as important to finish something well. And the time in between should be covered in wisdom and discernment so that we know where and when to follow the Holy Spirit’s leading.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith;” 2 Timothy 4:7

The apostle Paul was the perfect example of starting, persevering, and finishing well. When he came to know Christ, he began to follow him with intense passion. He continued on in that passion regardless of the persecution that he faced. Where Christ led, he obediently followed. When his life was over, he completed the call on his life the same way he began it, with intense passion.

He saw God do something in the beginnings and endings throughout his life that was far greater than he could have accomplished on his own.

Oh, that we would all live out the beginnings and endings in our lives with passion and obedience.

This is the life pleases the heart of God.
This is the life that He blesses.
This is the life that begins and finishes well.

Thank you to my dear friend Lisa-Jo Baker for showing me, and a watching world what it means to start and finish well. She has listened to the voice of God and has decided to pass on the leadership of Five Minute Friday to a trusted friend, Kate Motaung. I know that through her sheer obedience, greater things are yet to come!

Is there a beginning or ending of something that needs to happen in your life? If so, what is it?
