I love it when God allows me to connect with other women who have like minds and like passions as I do! It is always a reminder of how He desires us to be in community, to learn from each other and grow together.
A couple of weeks a ago two of my dear friends, Angie Ryg and Jessica Hoover invited me to be a part of something called a Blog Hop. I couldn’t resist. In the next week or two, you will also get to know a couple of my other friends who I have invited to be a part of this Blog Hop- Krissy Collins and Christie Hughes.
We are all sharing a bit about ourselves, our hearts and our writing. We will answer a few questions and give you, our community of readers a glimpse into who we are and why we do what we do.
Here goes…
1) What am I writing now?
Really, right now, I am just writing here on my blog, at http://www.incourage.me/, http://www.satisfactionthroughchrist.com/ and http://www.hashtaghope.ca . I have written poetry for 20 years but this whole blogging thing is still pretty new to me. I have only been doing it for less than two years. In many ways I am still finding my voice and discovering what the Lord wants to speak through me. This is one of the biggest adventures of my life! It is exciting and scary all at the same time.
2) How does my work differ from others of its genre?
This is a hard one! There are so many gifted writers out there. It is easy to get lost in the sea of words and talent. The thing that I think is my niche is my style of writing. I am very conversational in real life. I could make conversation with a tree. I crave sitting down with people and hearing their stories and speaking truth, hope and encouragement to their souls. That is how I approach writing. I imagine sitting across from you, having a cup of coffee and sharing stories. I always try to be relational and approachable. I don’t have it all together. I don’t know it all. I t4ry my hardest to live as though I do.
3) Why do I write what I do?
This one is easy! I write because it’s what God created me to do. I couldn’t imagine not writing or sharing God’s truth with His creation. I couldn’t imagine not connecting with hurting and broken people who need to hear how much God loves them and that God has purpose and good ahead for them. He has given me a voice even when I don’t feel like I have one. He has given me a story. My story matters.
4) How does my writing process work?
Oh, this one. It is crazy to say…I don’t really have one right now. I am working on that. This is my fave resource out there for creating a writing process…http://howtheyblog.com/. On my blog, I write when I am led to to. I don’t want to write just to write or just to produce. I want there to be life in the words here and I want God’s timing in the release of those words to be prevalent. In the other spaces that I write for, there are topics and ideas and deadlines. I do like that but it is taking me a little time find my groove.
These are my friends…
From the time she was small, Krissy grew up with more questions than could be answered and a curiosity to uncover the deep treasures hidden in the people and situations around her. She was overwhelmed with the desire to know WHY: why things happen the way they do, why the world works the way it does, why people respond to things in different ways, and why any of it really matters. As stories often have a way of unfolding, the WHY questions took on their greatest shape in the middle of her own story. And after years of exploring the WHY of her own existence, filled with both devastating and beautiful moments, Krissy came to an appreciation of the power of stories. Stories are deep magic into which God breathes his power for life-transformation. Stories for her are a key that unlocks breakthrough for those telling them and possibilities for those hearing them.
Krissy resides in Columbus, GA, with her husband Grant and two daughters, Lily and Norah. Together they pastor a missional community for young adults called the Door.

Christie Hughes is a mess-making mama who hold degrees in communications and law, but spends most of her time holding her two little girls and trying to hold it all together. She leads a weekly women’s bible study, while she and her husband also help to lead the marrieds ministry in their church. Christie’s an all out fear-fighting, Jesus-loving, coffee-slurping mama.
